“Dance with my father” skrevs av Luther Vandross and Richard Marx blev ”Song of the Year” and ”Best Male R&B Vocal Performance” vid Grammy Awards 2003.
Låten är en hyllning till Vandross Jr´s pappa som dog av diabetes när Luther var sju år. Även om min översättning är tolkningstrogen orginaltexten och Luthers historia, så kände jag igen mig i känslan att förlora sin förälder för tidigt.
Låten på svenska, ”DANS MED MIN PAPPA”, hyllar minnet av min egen pappa, då är allting fortfarande var en tid av kärlek och sorglöshet.

“Dance with My Father” written by Luther Vandross and Richard Marx became “Song of the Year” and “Best Male R & B Vocal Performance” at the Grammy Awards in 2003.
The song is a tribute to Vandross Jr’s father, who died of diabetes when Luther was 7 years old. Even if my translation is faithful to the original text and Luther’s story, I do recognize myself in the sense of losing a parents early.
The song in Swedish, “DANCE WITH MY FATHER,” celebrates the memory of my father, when everything was still a time of love and carefree.
